Games that use dice and the dice themselves goes all the way back to the Crusades, but current craps is approximately a century old. Modern craps evolved from the 12th Century English game called Hazard. No one absolutely knows the birth of the game, but Hazard is believed to have been discovered by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, in the 12th century. It’s believed that Sir William’s soldiers played Hazard through a siege on the fortress Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was gotten from the fortress’s name.

Early French settlers brought the game Hazard to Canada. In the 18th century, when exiled by the English, the French relocated down south and settled in the south of Louisiana where they after a while became known as Cajuns.
