Be brilliant, play brilliant, and master craps the correct way!
Games that use dice and the dice themselves goes back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but current craps is only about a century old. Current craps come about from the ancient English game called Hazard. Nobody absolutely knows the origin of the game, but Hazard is believed to have been invented by the Englishman, Sir William of Tyre, around the twelfth century. It is theorized that Sir William’s horsemen bet on Hazard through a blockade on the citadel Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was gotten from the fortification’s name.
Early French colonizers brought the game Hazard to Nova Scotia. In the 1700s, when banished by the English, the French moved down south and settled in the south of Louisiana where they a while later became Cajuns. When they were driven out of Acadia, they brought their best-loved game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns modernized the game and made it fair mathematically. It is said that the Cajuns adjusted the name to craps, which is gotten from the term for the losing throw of 2 in the game of Hazard, referred to as "crabs."
From Louisiana, the game extended to the Mississippi barges and all over the nation. A great many consider the dice builder John H. Winn as the father of modern craps. In the early 1900s, Winn assembled the current craps setup. He added the Do not Pass line so gamblers could bet on the dice to not win. Later, he developed the spots for Place wagers and added the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
