Be clever, play clever, and master craps the ideal way!
Games that use dice and the dice themselves date back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but current craps is only about a century old. Current craps developed from the 12th Century Anglo game referred to as Hazard. Nobody knows for sure the birth of the game, however Hazard is believed to have been discovered by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, sometime in the twelfth century. It’s theorized that Sir William’s horsemen played Hazard during a siege on the castle Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was acquired from the citadel’s name.
Early French colonizers imported the game Hazard to Canada. In the 18th century, when driven away by the English, the French headed south and settled in southern Louisiana where they after a while became known as Cajuns. When they departed Acadia, they took their favorite game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns modernized the game and made it fair mathematically. It is said that the Cajuns adjusted the name to craps, which is gotten from the name of the losing throw of 2 in the game of Hazard, known as "crabs."
From Louisiana, the game extended to the Mississippi scows and across the country. A great many consider the dice builder John H. Winn as the creator of current craps. In 1907, Winn created the current craps layout. He put in place the Do not Pass line so gamblers could wager on the dice to not win. At another time, he invented the spots for Place bets and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
